About Paper Dash

Paper Dash is a rhythm platformer, kind of like Geometry Dash but with a hand-drawn sketchbook look. Everything – the spikes, the platforms, your character – looks like someone drew it during a boring class. And honestly? That's part of its charm. You run through levels, jump over stuff, try not to die, and make it to the flag at the end. Sounds simple. It's not.

There are 20 levels. Each level has three hidden stars. You want all 60 stars? Get ready to replay the same jumps a hundred times until your thumb hurts.

How To Play Paper Dash

Controls

One button. That's it. Tap or click to jump.
Hold the button longer for a higher jump. This is crucial. Level 3 teaches you this by killing you until you figure it out.

The Goal

Reach the flag at the end of each level. That's how you move to the next one. But here's the catch. Each level has three stars hidden in tricky spots. Some are floating over spike pits. Some require you to jump backward. Some are just sitting there but the path to them is pure evil. You don't need the stars to finish the game. But you'll want them anyway. Trust me.

Dying and Restarting

You touch a spike? Dead. Fall off the edge? Dead. Mistime a jump and land on nothing? Dead. No checkpoints. No second chances. Back to the very beginning of the level.

Tips for New Players

  • Watch the level before you move. Seriously. Let it play out once while you do nothing. See where the spikes are. Notice the tricky jumps. It saves so many deaths.
  • Hold for height. Tapping gives a short hop. Holding gives a high jump. Level 8 is impossible if you haven't figured this out yet.
  • Don't chase stars on your first try. Beat the level first. Get to the flag. Then replay it for stars. Trying to do everything at once will make you rage quit.
  • The hand-drawn art lies to you. That squiggle on the wall? Might be a spike. Might be nothing. The game plays tricks with its sketchy style. When in doubt, jump over it.
  • Take breaks or you'll lose your mind. Fifty deaths on level 14? Walk away. Get water. Come back in ten minutes. I've beaten so many levels right after a break.
  • Sound actually helps. The game has a rhythm. Jumping to the beat works on some levels. Play with headphones if you're really stuck on a section.

Paper Dash FAQ

Do I need all 60 stars to finish the game?

Nope. You can ignore every star and just run to the flag. But collecting them is half the fun.

What's the best way to get those hard-to-reach stars?

Replay the level after you've beaten it. Once you know the layout, go back and focus on one star at a time. Don't try to grab all three in one run.

Why do I keep dying on the same jump?

You're probably jumping too early or too late. Watch the pattern. Most obstacles move the same way every time. Learn the timing, don't just react.

What's the hardest level?

Everyone has a different answer. For me, it's level 14. For my friend, it's level 18. You'll find your own nightmare.
